Volkswagen Australia has confirmed it will launch additional variants of its ID.4 and ID.5 electric SUVs following initial deliveries scheduled for July.
Brand representatives said the ID.4 GTX dual-motor performance variant and ID.5 Pro single-motor entry model will arrive during the second half of 2025, also bringing wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto which may be absent from the first batch of cars.
National product manager for VW Passenger Vehicles Australia, Arjun Nidigallu, mentioned the brand’s local division is clarifying with factory whether wireless smartphone mirroring will be retrofittable to early units, which is the case with the ID. Buzz electric people-mover.

ID.5 Pro (overseas model)
The 2025 Volkswagen ID.4 Pro and ID.5 GTX are now available to order, with prices starting from $59,990 and $72,990 before on-road costs respectively.
VW Australia hasn’t confirmed nor indicated what we can expect the new models to cost, but using the standard ‘coupe’ SUV tax of around $3000, expect the ID.5 Pro to sit around the $62,990 point and the ID.4 GTX to just dip under the $70,000 barrier.
With a July arrival scheduled, the ID.4 Pro and ID.5 GTX are due to arrive in Australia approximately four years after their international debut, and some 18 months after initially being promised for Australian showrooms.
Why the wait? Volkswagen Australia notes the ongoing negotiations with factory on pricing and specifications, as well as waiting for the latest tech upgrade which brought more powerful and efficient electric motors, a more energy dense battery with higher DC charging speeds, as well as a new infotainment system with updated software interface.

Volkswagen has also established a partnership with Ampol AmpCharge to offer home charging units and will soon announce a charging program with the charge provider. The first 500 customers to drive away an ID.4 Pro or ID.5 GTX will also receive a 7kW AC home charger for free – including installation – valued at $1899.
The ID.5 Pro will draw upon the single-motor drivetrain already on offer in the sharply priced ID.4 Pro. Its rear-mounted e-motor produces 210kW and 545Nm, good for a 0-100km/h time of 6.7 seconds.
A 77kWh (net) lithium-ion battery offers 544km of claimed WLTP driving range on a full charge, with AC and DC charging capacities quoted at 11kW and 175kW respectively.

Meanwhile, the ID.4 GTX will score the ID.5 GTX’s dual-motor all-wheel drive system, fed by a 79kWh battery. In the ID.5 GTX, 0-100km/h drops to 5.4 seconds while range is quoted at 528km.
Expect the ID.5 Pro to offer a little more range than the ID.4 thanks to its slipperier coupe roofline, and the ID.4 GTX to offer slightly less – though still over that 500km mark.
Stay tuned to CarExpert for our Australian launch review of the ID.4 Pro and ID.5 GTX on Thursday, April 10.
