Pick of the Day: 1978 Chevrolet K10 Cheyenne

Have you ever looked at a rough, weathered Chevrolet “Square Body” pickup and thought, If I had that truck, I’d give it some fresh paint and a new interior? You can certainly hunt down an old beater and go through all that hassle but, if you’re not that patient, you can just get our latest Pick of the Day from ClassicCars.com: a 1978 Chevrolet K10 Cheyenne Fleetside that has received a lot of someone else’s time, money, and elbow grease. It’s listed for sale by a dealership in Benson, North Carolina.

Not only was the lovably boxy exterior given fresh black paint, but a lot of the brightwork, such as the grille, chrome parts, and trim pieces, got replaced. This truck is almost too good-looking to use for work, but should you decide to use it for hauling something, your cargo will scratch only the bedliner, not the precious vintage metal underneath.

The interior updates were just as extensive. Most restored trucks have new upholstery, and this one is no exception because the bench seat has been covered in new red vinyl; below that is new red carpeting.

Whoever refreshed this K10 also went through the trouble of replacing the entire dashboard, which houses the controls for the heat and air conditioning, as well as the AM/FM radio. Power brakes and power steering round out the list of conveniences.

No word on if the 350ci V8 under the hood has been rebuilt as part of the restoration, but it’s clear that, at one point, it was connected to a dual exhaust system. A column-shifted automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case send the 350’s power to either the rear or all four 15-inch Rally wheels and their Kenda Klever all-terrain tires.

If the fruits of someone else’s labor are irresistible to you, indulge in this restored 1978 Chevrolet K10 Cheyenne. It’ll cost you $47,500, but think of all the time you didn’t have to spend to get it looking this good.
