The most affordable and most popular Mercedes-Benz EV (electric vehicle) is now cheaper, with both the new 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQA and 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQB 250+ City Edition bringing more equipment and lower entry prices for both models.

The EQA 250 is the new entry point for the small electric SUV lineup, priced at $80,700 before on-road costs, making it the new cheapest electric model in Mercedes-Benz Australia showrooms, at $4000 less than the EQA 250+.

The EQA is the best-selling Mercedes-Benz electric SUV locally, ahead of the larger EQB and EQE SUV in the German brand’s extensive battery-powered SUV lineup.

The EQA 250 comes with the same upgrades – and powertrain – as the new EQB 250+ City Edition, which is priced at $85,400 before on-roads to undercut the existing EQB 250+ ($89,100 before on-roads).

The price of both EVs includes a three-year Service Plan Package and 12 months of free charging at Chargefox public charging stations.

They easily slip under the Luxury Car Tax threshold, which will remain unchanged at $91,387 for ‘fuel efficient’ vehicles for the 2025-2026 financial year beginning today (July 1, 2025).

On the outside, the extra gear includes ‘bi-colour’ 19-inch AMG alloy wheels as standard, which Mercedes-Benz Australia says is a first for both models, plus Comfort suspension tune.

There’s also AMG Line styling, LED High Performance headlights with adaptive function, and metallic paint as standard for both vehicles.

Cabin equipment includes a panoramic sliding glass sunroof, Keyless-Go Comfort Package (keyless entry/start and hands-free tailgate), and heated front sports seats trimmed in ‘Artico’ synthetic leather with memory function.

The EQB 250+ City Edition also adds a third row to increase its seating capacity to seven.

A Nappa leather-wrapped steering wheel, 10.25-inch widescreen centre display with wireless smartphone charging, plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and ‘Advanced Sound System’ complete the interior package.

A 360-degree camera is part of a driver assist suite including Active Parking Assist and Distronic Active Distance Assist (adaptive cruise control), as well as Lane Keeping Assist and Blind Spot Assist.

Both the EQA 250 and EQB 250+ City Edition use a single-motor electric powertrain sending 140kW/385Nm through the front wheels, with a 70.5kWh battery bringing 578km and 564km (NEDC) driving ranges respectively.
