hyundai announces the ioniq 6 n at goodwood

Hyundai has teased the Ioniq 6 N and the car has been an open secret for a while now, so today’s reveal comes as no surprise. The Hyundai Ioniq 6 N will arrive with rapid acceleration and the same tech-backed performance goodies seen in the related Ioniq 5 N. Pricing and release date details will be available later this year.

The four-door comes equipped with two electric motors that make a combined 601 horsepower and 546 pound-feet of torque, but the N Grin Boost function pushes that output to 641 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque for up to ten seconds. With launch control, that combination propels the car to 62 mph from a standstill in just 3.2 seconds.

Like it did with the Ioniq 5 N, the 6 received a series of additional chassis welds and revised suspension geometry for better handling. The car has adaptive damping with sensors that monitor and adjust damping force, and electronic aids help distribute torque to the wheels that need it most.

The Ioniq 6 relies on a host of electronic tricks to achieve that performance, but there’s so much going on at times that it can be overwhelming. Additionally, Hyundai will employ some of the same quirky features used in the Ioniq 5 to “boost” driver engagement, including a simulated gear-shifting feature and engine sounds pumped into the cabin.
