The covers have been pulled off the smallest Skoda electric SUV yet, with the Czech automaker revealing a near-production version of its Epiq in Munich, Germany – and it promises price parity with equivalent combustion-powered models.
Skoda Australia has told CarExpert it anticipates the city-friendly Epiq will be added to the local lineup – although arrival timing is yet to be finalised – after production starts next year, following the reveal of the final showroom version in mid-2026.
In revealing the Epiq, which wears the brand’s new ‘Modern Solid’ design language, Skoda said pricing will be on par with the similar-sized, petrol-powered Kamiq small SUV.
The Kamiq, an alternative to the Mazda CX-30, Nissan Qashqai and Volkswagen T-Roc, is currently offered in two model grades in Australia, priced at $33,990 and $45,990 before on-road costs.

Similar pricing for the Epiq would see it undercut the Kia EV3’s $47,600 starting price, as well as the Hyundai Kona Electric’s base price of $54,000, with a price potentially closer to that of the BYD Atto 2 electric SUV.
The Atto 2 is scheduled to arrive in Australia before the end of 2025, with pricing that’s expected to be lower than the larger BYD Atto 3‘s base price of $39,990 plus on-roads.
Regardless of price comparisons with its rivals, the Epiq is set to be Skoda’s cheapest electric model when it goes on sale in Europe next year.
The near-production version shown in Munich is also the first Skoda to use the automaker’s new ‘Modern Solid’ design language both inside and out.
All new vehicles launched by the Czech brand going forward will wear the new design theme inside and out, including a yet-to-be-named seven-seat SUV based on the 2022 Vision 7S concept and due to be unveiled by the end of 2025.
The new look debuted on the exterior of the new Elroq SUV – launched in Australia this month – but the Epiq is the first to adopt the styling direction entirely, including its interior.
Skoda described cabin as presenting a ‘minimalist’ look. Key features will include wireless smartphone charging and, importantly, physical buttons for important functions.
It also confirmed the Epiq will offer a 475-litre boot – more than the petrol Kamiq’s 400L – and an electric driving range of 425km (WLTP), but did not share any additional powertrain details.
Skoda Australia will launch an updated version of its Tesla Model Y-rivalling Enyaq electric SUV this week, having confirmed a high-performance RS version for local showrooms in 2026.
The local arm hopes a flood of new models, including the second-generation Kodiaq large SUV and updated Octavia RS (both due here this year), will help it stem slowing sales over the past 18 months, after a record-setting result in 2023.
It will also introduce its first plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models to local showrooms in 2026, including PHEV powertrains for its seven-seat Kodiaq large SUV and the Superb large sedan/wagon.
