Ford To Share Price Increases On Three Mexican-Made Models With Buyers

Like many major automakers, Ford builds a significant number of vehicles outside of the United States that end up on sale here. Three of its more popular models are made in Mexico, subjecting them to President Trump’s new auto tariffs, and the automaker recently announced its plans to deal with the changes.

Reuters located a memo from the automaker to dealers, outlining the upcoming changes. Ford will raise prices on the Bronco Sport, Mach-E, and Maverick pickup truck, with some variants climbing by up to $2,000. A spokesperson confirmed the price changes and said they would impact vehicles built after May 2. In addition to the tariff-related costs, the spokesperson also said the increases reflect the normal mid-year price corrections that happen with some models.

While sharing the costs with buyers is better for Ford’s bottom line than eating the entire tariff cost, the automaker still plans for a bumpy 2025. CEO Jim Farley recently said Ford expects additional expenses that could exceed $2.5 billion this year, though he also noted that the automaker’s heavy U.S. manufacturing footprint insulates it from some of its rivals’ headaches.

After the initial tariff announcement, President Trump said the government would soften parts of the new rules to give credits for components made in the United States. The overall 25 percent tariff on imported vehicles remains, which some say could chill U.S. auto sales by more than a million units annually.
