Hyundai i30 recalled, over 18,000 vehicles affected

Hyundai is recalling over 18,000 examples of its i30 Hatch as they could suddenly lose power.

“Due to a manufacturing defect, the fuel pump impeller may become deformed under certain environmental conditions, interrupting the fuel supply,” the company says in its recall notice.

“If this occurs, the engine could stall resulting in a sudden loss of motive power.

“A sudden loss of motive power whilst driving may increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”

  • A total of 18,634 PD-series i30s are affected, produced from 2020 to 2021
  • The Vehicle Identification Notice is attached here

If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to schedule an appointment with an authorised Hyundai dealership to have the fuel pump impeller inspected and replaced, free of charge.
