Skoda locks in hot electric SUVs for Australia

Skoda will expand its product lineup in Australia with the introduction of two new sporty EVs – the Elroq RS and updated Enyaq RS – next year.

The mid-size Enyaq RS is already sold in Australia as a rakish coupe SUV, but the arrival of a facelifted model will also see the high-performance variant offered in the more traditional wagon SUV body style.

As for the smaller Elroq RS, that’ll arrive in Australia for the very first time during the second quarter of 2026. The hotter Elroq will be sold alongside the base 85 Select and 130 Edition variants, both of which hit showrooms next month.

“We are working on Elroq RS. We will have that in market hopefully around Q2 next year, we’re just finalising pricing and production,” said Kieran Merrigan, Skoda Australia’s head of product and marketing, at the local launch of the new Elroq.

“Elroq is really hard to get a hold of at the moment globally, it’s doing quite well in Europe… which makes it really hard for us to get the supply.

“But we will have this car, we do have it confirmed.

“[It will be] closely followed by the Enyaq RS… I’m excited to get both body styles.”

The Elroq RS and Enyaq RS will join the Octavia RS and soon-to-launch second-generation Kodiaq RS in Skoda’s stable of performance models, with the latter pair featuring petrol engines under their bonnets.

Both new RS SUVs are powered by a pair of electric motors, one for each axle, generating a total of 250kW. The pair also share a claimed 0-100km/h sprint of 5.4 seconds, as well as a top speed of 180km/h.

The battery has 79kWh of usable capacity, and has a WLTP range of 562km in the Enyaq crossover, 568km in the Coupe, and 572km in the Elroq.

Many other components are shared across the models, including the braking setup – two-piston calipers up front and drum stoppers at the rear. Both also sport retuned suspension.

Visually, the pair both wear Skoda’s new ‘modern solid’ design language.

The Elroq RS also has lightly revised bumpers, with the front featuring a slightly more aggressive lower air intake treatment and a finlet below the disguised main headlight unit.

At the back, there’s a full-width reflective strip and a gloss black insert. Gloss black has been liberally applied to the wing mirror caps, roof rails, window trims, and Skoda lettering.

It’s a similar story for the Enyaq RS, which also receives the gloss black treatment and revised front-end styling.

Both models can be specced with 20- or 21-inch alloy wheels, while the Mamba Green paintwork featured in images throughout this article is exclusive to RS variants.

Inside, the Elroq RS and Enyaq RS gain sport seats trimmed in a mixture of faux suede and leather, with further special touches including lime green stitching, faux carbon fibre, and stainless steel pedal covers.

Full pricing and specifications for Australia will be confirmed closer to the launch of each respective model, although the current Enyaq RS retails for $83,990 before on-road costs.
