The All-But-Forgotten Jaguar I-Pace Can Now Access Tesla Superchargers

Believe it or not, the Jaguar I-Pace can now access Tesla Superchargers. Owners of the discontinued EV were surprised by the move, saying Jaguar’s support to date had been poor, but even with this new development, Supercharging won’t be straightforward for owners at first.

One owner on the I-Pace forum said, “I’m flabbergasted that this has actually happened, considering the general poor support of the vehicle.” The EV was plagued by problems, including several recalls, one of which ended with Jaguar buying back thousands of vehicles. The EV was recalled for battery fire issues, making this next part extremely important to the conversation.

Even though Tesla added Jaguar Land Rover vehicles to its list of NACS-approved automakers earlier this month, I-Pace owners have not yet received the adapter Jaguar promised back in 2023. That means that, in order to charge at a Tesla location, owners must use a third-party adapter that isn’t approved by the automaker, which could void the warranty if something goes wrong.

The I-Pace has a CCS1 charging port, but Jaguar’s upcoming EVs will come with NACS ports from the factory. While that certainly helps future-proof the vehicles, it also means that owners will need a reverse adapter to charge at a CCS1 location, of which there are many in operation.
