Australian Zeekr 7X pre-orders top 1000 in days after reveal of ‘aggressive’ pricing

More than 1000 pre-orders for the Zeekr 7X electric SUV have been received in the first seven days since it went on sale, with the brand set to break its previous 2025 sales target.

Order books for the 7X opened last week, when Zeekr announced a starting-price of $57,900 before on-road costs, undercutting the rival Tesla Model Y by $1000.

Zeekr has been in Australia less than 12 months – having launched here in October 2024 – with the 7X SUV its third model after the X SUV and the 009 people mover.

Ahead of 7X orders officially starting last week, the brand had delivered 522 vehicles in Australia this year to the end of July.

“We are not really aiming to be competitive with any specific model,” Zeekr Australia managing director, Frank Li, told CarExpert, when asked if the new Zeekr was deliberately priced below the Tesla.

“My colleagues may let you know that we had quite aggressive conversations on this price just right up until the launch,” Mr Li added.

“I think this price shows that we have warm heart to the Australia customers and that we really welcome them to come to us.”

The $57,900 before on-road costs price is for the entry-level 7X RWD (rear-wheel drive), with the 7X Long Range RWD $63,900 before on-roads and the top-spec 7X Performance AWD at $72,900 plus on-roads.

An additional promotion for the first 1000 buyers has been extended until August 18.

It gives buyers two years of additional warranty and roadside assistance on top of the standard five years, as well as any paint and cabin colour choice at no additional cost.

It also includes a 7kW home charger, Type 2 charging cable and 10-Amp mini portable charging cable, which will be offered beyond August 18 through to September 30.

At the 7X launch event in Sydney, Zeekr Australia revised down its previous sales forecast for this year from 3000 vehicles to 2000, with Mr Li explaining the 7X’s October arrivals limit its contribution to 2025 sales.

Yet the 1000 pre-orders – in addition to the average monthly sales of 79 units per month before the 7X went on sale – has the brand approaching 2000 before any further 7X volume is added. Of course, this is all contingent on Zeekr getting vehicles imported and delivered before the end of the year.

All three models launched so far are electric vehicles, however Zeekr does offer hybrid models overseas, including the flagship 9X plug-in hybrid large SUV – which could be the fourth model in the Australian lineup, the brand having confirmed a yet-to-be-named SUV for local showrooms in 2026.
