2026 Volvo EX30 Cross Country pricing: Baby EV gets rugged makeover

Volvo Car Australia has opened orders for the new EX30 Cross Country, with pricing for the little adventure-ready electric crossover SUV starting from $69,990 before on-road costs.

Continuing the ‘Cross Country’ lineage that dates back to 1997, the 2026 Volvo EX30 Cross Country “adds rugged ingredients” to the Swedish brand’s smallest electric vehicle, which the company says makes it “perfect for the growing number of people who want to explore beyond their crowded cities”.

Volvo’s Australian press release only confirms a 427km driving range (versus 460km for the Twin Motor Performance) and a 10-80 per cent charging time of “as little as 26 minutes”.

However, global specifications point to the same 315kW/543Nm dual-motor electric drivetrain as the existing EX30 Twin Motor Performance – which can dash from 0-100km/h in just 3.7 seconds.

The EX30 Cross Country will also be launched with a “new experience package” for customers, said to offer access “to accessories, gear and information aimed at giving you the full potential to explore the great outdoors”.

What this means from an Australian perspective is unclear, though the global model offers a “discounted” package for the rugged version of the EV, planned to include “a load carrier, a roof basket, 18-inch all terrain tyres and mud flaps”.

Other changes include a raised ride height (details TBC); model-specific wheels with the option of the aforementioned all-terrain accessory tyre; dark-coloured ‘front shield’ and boot lid, the former getting a “unique piece of artwork showing the topography of the Kebnekaise mountain range in Arctic Sweden”; front and rear skidplates; as well as wheel arch extensions.

Less has been done to change the interior, which retains the dashboard-mounted soundbar; modular central storage compartment; washable rear storage box; the ‘Will it fit?’ guide on the tailgate; and 12.3-inch central touchscreen with Google Built-in.

It’s also decked out with all the same safety and assistance systems that are fitted to the regular EX30 range.

EX30 Cross Country equipment highlights:

  • Power-adjustable front seats
  • Heated front seats
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Rear privacy glass
  • Fixed panoramic glass roof
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay
  • Digital Key
  • 360-degree cameras
  • Harman Kardon premium sound system
  • Wireless phone charger
  • Park Pilot Assist with Steer Support
  • Blind-spot monitoring

Available colours include:

  • Cloud Blue
  • Crystal White
  • Onyx Black
  • Sand Dune
  • Vapour Grey

Australian sales of the EX30 haven’t quite matched last year’s number, with 869 registrations through the January-August period – down 43.4 per cent year to date.

Still, the EX30 is Volvo’s third best-seller in the Australian market in 2025, behind the XC40/EX40 (1771) and XC60 (1198) SUVs.

The 2026 Volvo EX30 Cross Country is available to order now, priced from $69,990 plus on-road costs.
